At the West Essex Group of Alcoholics Anonymous - we love to celebrate sobriety time. That is to say everything from 24 hours without a drink to many, many years!
From our experience, it is only fellow alcoholics who can truly appreciate the heroic achievement of not having that first drink for any period of time!
Birthday cake - for AA Birthdays!
Let a member of the Meeting Hospitality Team know in advance, if you have an annual sobriety date coming up. We will then get you a little cake to celebrate.
After blowing the candles out - we may ask you to give a quick 60 second experience, strength and hope report. This is for newcomers to hear how it was for you before sobriety and how it is now.
Have a desire to stop drinking...
And need to legally prove it?
AA West Essex Group is a 'Chit System' meeting. This means that you can attend our meetings and get a legally verifiable document to certify your attendance. This is called an 'attendence chit'. This can be given to probation officers, social workers, courts, employers and anywhere else you may need legal proof.
Disclaimer: attendance chits are NOT PROOF OF RECOVERY. We suggest you get a Sponsor as soon as you possibly can and work the 12 Steps to achieve recovery from alcohol. Experience teaches us that our loved ones, friends, work colleagues and others around us will notice the positive changes in our character and physical health before we are even aware of them ourselves!
